Square Spa Cover
Are you replacing your existing spa cover?
Simply take the measurements of your old cover to ensure a proper fit for your hot tub.
If you do not have an existing spa cover to measure, read the instructions below.
Measuring for a new or replacement spa cover for a square-shaped tub, where the corners form right angles and are not rounded, is one of the easiest shapes to measure. You wonít even need to use a carpenterís square, mentioned in the instructions and shown in the video on our measuring page.
Taking Measurements from the Lip to Lip of the Tub
It doesnít really matter if you take measurements from the acrylic tub or whether you also include the wood rim. Either type of measurement will cover the water inside and keep the water temperature consistent. But if you donít want leaves and debris to collect on the top of the rim, you will probably want to take measurements from the wood rim for your new spa cover.
Make sure to take into consideration the skirting. Itís important to ensure that it hangs STRAIGHT DOWN. Measure the skirt length from the seam and make sure it extends down far enough to insulate the spa. If it is not long enough, it will fold and curl, and your spa will lose its heat efficiency. Measure the skirt so that it is long enough to cover the spa lip, or the spa cabinet rim (3 inches will do). (See the figure below)
Proper measurements result in a good fit for your new spa cover. Remember to always add an inch to each measurementóThis will allow for any errors, and will ensure that your new or replacement spa cover will seal the tub, hold the heat in, and lie flat.
